Posters have long been a staple of the graphic design world. And for good reason. The canvas is simple, but the routes for developing a great poster are infinitely boundless. Bad posters are posted over, or end up in the trash. Good posters are admired, and quite often taken as a keepsake.
The same thing applies to t-shirt designs. The t-shirt is one of the most commonly worn garments in the world, and no matter who you are, you know which one in your wardrobe happens to be your favorite. T-shirt art is more than a cheap means of promotion. People attach meaning to their clothes, so if the design is done right, and worn often, it’s more than just a piece of clothing, it’s a piece of somebody’s life.

Thompson Rivers University: Gig Poster/Tickets
TRU was putting on a concert called Afternoon Delight. They wanted the poster to feel something akin to Coachella, and requested that a vinyl record player be included in the poster. Since this was a concert for students nearing the end of the school year, I wanted to portray a sense of calm in the work as I’m sure students were stressed out and wanting a release.
Thompson Rivers University: The Generator
The Generator provides mentorship, education, and entrepreneurial support for TRU students, alumni, faculty, and staff. They were looking for a shirt design that was fun and would convey the breadth of what the Generator provides. The graphic symbolizes ideas in action and was designed to be monochromatic to save on production costs.
Put It In The Bowl: Bowl Bash
Put It In The Bowl is a group of snowboarders in Kamloops, BC that organize a yearly rail jam event at Sun Peaks called Bowl Bash. I wanted to create something that re-imagined their logo as an abstract good time that captured the fun-filled freeing nature of snowboarding.

This year’s poster had a much bigger focus on action with the use of a photo. I wanted to keep the fun spirit of the first poster however, so I integrated cartoon elements into the poster without sacrificing the the impact of the trick. I also took this photo as well.
Adroit Technologies: Tech Ninjas
Adroit is an IT-focused company in Kamloops, BC. They wanted some fun shirts designed that were based on their tagline of “Your Technology Ninjas” I came up with this design and character creation of the Tech Ninja.
Kamloops Innovation: Rocket to the Future
Kamloops Innovation gives new and growing technology-enabled businesses mentorship, connections and a community they need to thrive. KIC wanted a new design they could utilize for shirts, graphics, and stickers for the “backers” that support the institution. With a heavy emphasis on ingenuity in technology I wanted to convey a fun sense of wonder that people had in the past with a retro design. The effect of technology today has far surpassed what we once thought was possible, but thankfully our sense of wonder has never fleeted.
